Il nostro ecosistema non è fragile, è complesso: muta continuamente, in relazione alle circostanze ed alle forze in gioco, adattandosi.
Il nostro ecosistema non si cura delle nostre azioni, semplicemente reagisce, con le forme, le possibilità e le modalità che gli sono proprie. Quando parliamo di fragilità del nostro ecosistema sbagliamo in tutto: la fragilità è nostra, e nostra soltanto.
Il nostro agire anche nella relativamente breve storia umana, ci ha portato sino a questo punto, sino ad oggi, un oggi in cui le reazioni del sistema che ci ha permesso di esistere e ci consente di rimanere in vita, ci paiono pericolose, non più sostenibili per la vita umana, fonti di dolore, miseria e paura.
“non sarebbe bellissimo poter avere un pulsante che interrompa e curi magicamente i nostri errori…?”
Il senso di ” The Care Switch ” risiede in questo, in una metaforica attivazione di piccoli e semplici gesti possibil i (come tenere semplicemente premuto un pulsate) che, perpetrati con un’applicazione ed una dedizione costanti, possono portare a grandi risultati.
Un invito a riflettere sulle nostre quotidiane esistenze anche come singoli individui, responsabili e dedicati, ed a considerare, con un’utopia realizzata – quella di un pulsante che risolve tutto – una prospettiva lungimirante ed affrancata dalle logiche minime di egoismo particolare ed economico, per poter costruire e proporre al nostro ecosistema un nuovo paradigma relazionale, armonico e lungimirante, che possa sostituire lo SFRUTTAMENTO con la CURA , l’IGNORANZA con la SAGGEZZA e la RESPONSABILITA’, il DOMINIO con il DIALOGO, nel rapporto intimo, imprescindibile e vitale che esiste tra noi ed il mondo che ci accoglie e ci tiene in vita.
L’installazione interattiva consiste esteticamente in un grande monitor (o una proiezione a seconda degli spazi espositivi disponibili) all’interno del quale “vive” un ecosistema metaforico (rappresentato da un point cloud 3D) in continua, costante ed inesorabile dissoluzione.
L’interazione del pubblico consiste nella possibilità di premere un grande pulsante rosso, posto di fronte all’ecosistema, che permette di rallentare – sino a quasi arrestarne – la dissoluzione, ricavandone contemporaneamente un feedback visivo e sonoro volto a sottolineare l’efficacia dell’azione.
Il ruolo del pubblico diviene dunque quello di ” salvare ” questo ecosistema dalla dissoluzione, intervenendo con dedizione sul pulsante per il maggior tempo possibile.
Alcuni dati in tempo reale affiancano l’ecosistema anch’essi a rendere esplicito il lavoro del tempo ed il contemporaneo lavoro del pubblico volto a frenarne la corsa.

Our ecosystem is not fragile, it is complex: it changes constantly, adapting to circumstances and the forces at play.
Our ecosystem does not care about our actions, it simply reacts in its own ways, with its own forms, possibilities, and methods. When we talk about the fragility of our ecosystem, we are completely wrong: the fragility is ours, and ours alone.
Our actions, even in the relatively short history of humankind, have brought us to this point, to today, a day when the reactions of the system that has allowed us to exist and keeps us alive seem dangerous, no longer sustainable for human life, sources of pain, misery, and fear.
“Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a button that magically interrupts and fixes our mistakes…?”
The meaning of “The Care Switch” lies in this, in a metaphorical activation of small and simple possible gestures (such as simply pressing a button) which, when carried out with constant application and dedication, can lead to great results.
An invitation to reflect on our daily lives as responsible and dedicated individuals, and to consider, with a realized utopia—that of a button that solves everything—a forward-looking perspective freed from the minimal logic of particular and economic selfishness, in order to build and propose a new relational paradigm for our ecosystem, harmonious and forward-looking, that can replace EXPLOITATION with CARE, IGNORANCE with WISDOM and RESPONSIBILITY, DOMINATION with DIALOGUE, in the intimate, essential, and vital relationship that exists between us and the world that welcomes us and keeps us alive.
Aesthetically, the interactive installation consists of a large monitor (or a projection, depending on the exhibition space available) within which a metaphorical ecosystem (represented by a 3D point cloud) ‘lives’ in continuous, constant and inexorable dissolution.
The audience interacts by pressing a large red button located in front of the ecosystem, which slows down—almost stopping—the dissolution, while providing visual and audio feedback to emphasize the effectiveness of the action.
The audience’s role is therefore to “save” this ecosystem from dissolution by pressing the button for as long as possible.

Some real-time data accompanies the ecosystem, also making explicit the work of time and the simultaneous work of the audience aimed at slowing down its progress.
